The second
annual Chilla Nathi charity drive will raise funds for sanitary towels for
needy school girls who can’t afford to buy them. Chilla Nathi Nathi Festival
and Entertainment is on its second year and is the Brain Child of comedian and
entertainer Thapelo Mabokotho Mbanjane.
Last year
they bought school uniform and sanitary towels with proceeds generated for Botlehadi
Primary school based in Chris Hani in Bloemfontein. The festival will be held
on 10 March at Paradise hall in Bloemfontein and will be filled with music, fun
and games.
Local artists
such as renowned Alah Yen, Scavvy Luv, Stemoga, Tahbu and others will perform and all artists are
performing for free as its for a good cause of raising funds to buy sanitary
towels for needy learners. Donation of sanitary towels are also welcomed, so
far 155 sanitary towels have been collected.
“Last year
we collected sanitary towels and school
uniform and it was a great joy to see the learners smiling and that elated us seeing the impact
we did to bring smiles. As South Africans we are known for Ubuntu and putting
others first before our needs, we need each other, no man is an Island, we can’t
keep quiet while our brothers and sisters need our help, the little we have can
make a difference, you doesn’t need millions, the little you have can change
many lives” said Mabokotho
“I decided
to be part of this festival because it’s for a good cause. I have seen on the
news and documentaries the need poor girl learner’s face and the school days
they miss due to not having sanitary towels. As an artist I decided to perform
for free and make my contribution. I call on people to come in numbers and make
the goal of getting 1000 sanitary towels a reality” says Strausz Musique SA, a
Bloemfontein local artist.
Tickets for
the Festival costs only R20 and are available from Mabokotho. To gets yours
